Who Are The River Runners?

We are Nova Scotia’s premium tidal rafting operation – located at the mouth of the Shubenacadie River in Maitland, Nova Scotia. We have a breath taking view of the upper Bay of Fundy. We will open your eyes to the Bay of Fundy’s history and incredible natural forces.

What We Provide

We offer both a 2 hour and a 4 hour ride on the tide. Your adventure begins when you board our Zodiacs with the anticipation of the Tidal Bore, the first wave of the incoming tidal surge. This bore may reach 1-10 feet in height depending on tidal and channel conditions. Our skilled guides ride the crest of this wave for approximately 1/2 mile up river. The passing of the famous “Tidal Bore” signals the start of natural sand rapids which cover huge expanses of sand bars along a 10 mile stretch of the Shubenacadie River. Our larger, quieter motors allow for more passes through each set of these rapids. Following this exhilarating adventure you can relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery of this fascinating area during the cruise back to home base . Our knowledgeable guides will answer any questions you may have.

We provide personal flotation devices (PFD’s) and rain suits for cool days.

Big Horn Rafting Tour Such an incredible morning on the water! This outfit had the friendliest staff and everything ran right on time. Reasonably priced, conveniently located, easy check in... the whole family had a blast! We had Jack, who really made the experience memorable for my 12 and 13 year old boys when he let them "guide" the boat for us. Will definitely return for the Royal Gorge raft!

Exceptional for all ages!! We have a big family - 5 kids ranging from 9 to 19...it is hard to make everyone happy. Everyone had such a great time and even those toughest nuts to crack is talking about the trip and how they want to go again! Highly recommend - what a great adventure for all. Our guide Eric was exceptional - thank you Eric, we will be back!!

Great Experience! We did the full day - morning was Big Horn Sheep Canyon and the afternoon was the royal gorge. We had a blast. Our guide was Luke and he was great. He has a great personality, fun and patient with us paddlers. Lunch was a deli lunch, but a great one. The deli meats were great cuts, lots of extras to make your sandwhich, great chips and cookies from a local bakery. We rafted in July, but still had Class 3 & 4 rapids. It was a great ride and the highlight of our trip to Southwest Colorado! River Runners had great facilities to change, souvenirs and photos! I'd go again!

So fun we did it twice! We did the half day Bighorn river and had so much fun we returned for the Royal Gorge half day the following day. Preston was our guide and was phenomenal! loved the commentary, funny jokes and did a great job engaging our 14 year old son. We have rafted in Nevada, Greece, and Italy and River Runners was one of the best we have experienced.

GREAT! My family of 5 did the full day Royal Gorge whitewater rafting trip and it was amazing!!! Our guide Luke was absolutely great!!!! The staff were flexible and accommodating as our plan changed for 2 of our rafters (originally only doing 1/2 day). We ended up all going the full trip but the staff included us for lunch and we’re going to make a special trip to bring us back. They just made everything so easy and our experience fabulous!!!
